Some people have noticed my caption script in this video (at 0:10) and asked how to do it. Here is how:
First thing is to enable the preview caption in the viewport.
Option Number 1: The Easy Way
Paste this into your “Master” Simulation Flow. It works but you have to type in the properties you want to see, and you have to remember to paste it into every scene. This will update the caption as you simulate so you have to turn on the Preview > image sequence in Export Central.
Option Number 2: The PyQt way
A while ago Luis M. posted about how to get PyQt working in Realflow on his blog http://luismma.wordpress.com/2010/06/17/pyqt4-and-realflow/. There is a bit more work to get it running, but then you have access to PyQt from inside realflow which allows you to make much better tools.
Then download the files. http://www.mikezfx.com/files/CaptionWithPreviewForRealflow.rar
Put the python file into the scripts folder in your Realflow install directory. Put the .png into the icons folder.
If you didn’t install python and PyQt to the default directories, you will have to edit the script where it says “C:\Python26\Lib\site-packages” to point to your install.
Now when you start up Realflow, you will get a new icon in your toolbar. I have also assigned it to the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+P.
Click it to launch the script, then check what you want to be displayed.
There will be some errors in your messages window because it tries to find all of the checked properties for all of the checked objects, but it still functions.
